Relationship between families and kindergartens in Hungary in the 1950s

Partnership working and co-operation between parents early education care settings is a widely researched topic worldwide. However, little known about how the relationship families kindergartens developed in historically significant period of 1950s Hungary, which marks beginnings socialism rapid expansion childhood care. This study aims to explore expectations raising ‘socialist citizens’ was incorporated into educational policy documents other written resources relating kindergarten family education. Purposive sampling selection identified 80 as data sources, were subjected qualitative content analysis. Intra-frame coding done by hand using combined inductive deductive approach. Employing constructivist theoretical lens, analysis focused on both manifest latent selected resulted seven main themes. The findings confirmed that ideologically driven decisions not only influenced but also legitimised efforts build socialist system through organised collaboration related propaganda work. it offers more nuanced understanding ‘50s with provides foundations for further analytical work pedagogical past.
